New Year...New Home

Well sort of. LOL

My sister is in and we've just started working on my apartment. We'll be finishing the floor in the living room tonight and will be able to move furniture in this weekend. It shouldn't be too bad for now cause I'm taking my sister's 1 year old sectional couch and I have a few pieces in my attic that will get shifted to the new house to start. I really want a flat screen TV and an electric fireplace but that'll be a few years down the line before I can afford it.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a French country look in the kitchen. Saw some cabinets at Home Depot that are an off-white and cream that I really liked. Creamy yellow walls and a new table & chair set and it'll look nice. Now just to figure out where to put the cabinets. I had it all figured out when all I really had was the room measurements. Now that I'm able to really look at the place, the kitchen window is too low for me to do what I want. Haven't had much of a chance to rearrange things in my head yet.

D had a blast for Christmas. She was opening presents for 3 days! LOL I couldn't wait for her get to sleep on Christmas Eve as I did the usual of waiting till then to put her presents together. She got a basketball hoop that she just loves. The kitchen set took a while for her to warm up to. Can you tell she's cared for by a man during the day? LOL

Now that the holidays and vacations are over and decorations, for the most part, have been put away till next year, schedules are back to normal. For everyone but D. Somehow over the last few weeks, my happy little 2 year old has reverted back into a baby. Crying, tantrums, refusing to eat or walk. It's really starting to take a toll on me. I'm getting frustrated with her more quickly than I used to. The night she mushed a banana into the couch just about sent me through the roof.

I know part of D's behavior is probably still coming from the adjustment to the new house and the timing changes to our routine. It has only been a month since my sister moved it, I just don't know if I can take another 2 or 3 months of this type of behavior until D fully adjusts. And the real kicker is that probably just as she gets used to the new situation, it'll change again when we move in for good. I think I'm looking at 4-6 months of unpredictable toddler behaviour.

Fortunately I have tons of chocolate to get me through this trying parenting time. Hopefully this phase soon passes and D decides she likes being a toddler more than being a baby.

Till then, Happy New Year.
