I've spent the last few weeks checking out homes on the internet. The search area has changed so many times I'm not sure where we're going to end up. I do really like the hi-ranch type of houses on the southside but the colonials and victorians to the north are gorgeous also. It seems as if my sister was right in that we really can't start looking until she sells her house. Buyers want to know we'll have the cash at closing otherwise we're wasting their time. Bah! I just want to get a look inside a lot of these house cause the descriptions make it very difficult to tell how things are laid out. I did convince a real estate agent that if it came to it we could scrape up enough money for a contract until T sells. 2 of the houses I really like are already in contract but we're going to see another house later today!
I've also had 2 real estate agents to my apartment to give me an estimate on how much I can get for it. The first I think really overpriced the place. There are apartments that are bigger than mine in the development that aren't getting as much as she wanted to list mine for. The second had numbers to back up her figure, which was more to what I thought I could get. I'm also getting nervous as she mentioned it could take almost 2 months before I sell and the longer I wait to list the harder it's going to get because we're moving towards the winter and people don't go house/apartment shopping in the snow. I think I'll move my timetable up just a bit and list my apartment as soon as my sister is in contract instead of waiting another few weeks till we find a place.
I'm excited and can't wait to start really moving on this and the waiting is driving me nuts. Also my sister is pretty ambivalent about the whole thing. She's the type who puts down roots and stays, I'm the mover (6 times in 20 years). Also my BIL is driving her nuts cause he's worried about the money. My biggest concern is over the size of the house we're going to get and that I actually get more room for D's toys.
Okay, going to get us ready for a party in the park before house shopping!
